Chorus
Have you ever wanted to learn more about Chorus at Mountain View? Chorus is one activity in which every 4th and 5th grade student has the opportunity to participate. Mr. Ginnan has taught Chorus since he came to MVES as our music teacher last year. Mr. Ginnan sang in his elementary school Chorus and grew up playing instruments, which inspired him to pursue a career as a music teacher. He has played the clarinet for over 15 years.
Chorus helps students develop a variety of different musical skills. It increases their vocal strength, vocal range, and helps them to pitch match. Chorus meets at Mountain View every Tuesday at 8:15am. Rehearsals begin with tongue-twisters as warmups, followed by reading exercises, working on lyrics, pitches, and practicing singing together as an ensemble.
One of students’ favorite parts about participating in Chorus is performing in the concerts. There are two concerts each year: one in the winter and one in the spring. Concerts give students the opportunity to showcase their vocal skills for their friends and families.
Honor Roll and Attendance
We are excited to have celebrated our student’s hard work and successes for the second quarter of school! Cougars know that we come to school every day to learn and that it is important to work hard to earn excellent grades. While we saw a dip in the number of students to achieve these goals from the first quarter, we know that our students will continue to put forth their best efforts for the third quarter. Check out our stats!

Dogs, Cats, Birds, Fish Reptiles, Rabbits, Mice, Hamsters . . . We love them all!!
The SCA at MVES will be collecting items for local pet and animal rescues from now until March 15th.
Please consider donating new pet food or snacks for any kind of pet! New or gently used items like toys, equipment like leashes, collars, cages, and pet beds would be appreciated!
Watch D.O.G.S.
We are looking for volunteers for the Mother/Son event on the event day AND for event prep on the day before:
Event Prep: Friday, March 15, 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Event Day: Saturday, March 16, 5:00 - 9:30 pm
If you're willing and able to help, please signup here: https://signup.com/go/jBVrPQD
We continue to need volunteers during the school days! We have several students who need someone to listen while they practice their reading skills, help with math, a mentor to go on a walk around the building, and of course, a father-figure to help on the playground. Please have participated in a volunteer training and sign-up here:
Lunch Visitors
Please remember to sign up if you are planning to have lunch with your child(ren) in the cafeteria. It is important that we have enough seats for visitors. All visitors over the age of 18 must have a photo ID to enter the building. Lunch times and the link to sign up are on the MVES webpage. Navigate to Family Engagement (button at top) and Families at Lunch for details. You can also use this handy link to sign up: MVES Families at Lunch
